Egyptian ICT Minister meets ZTE and HP top executives

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady received ZTE Egypt CEO Woo Lee and Vice President Tamer Fayed to follow-up on the implementation of the company’s business plans. These were first presented to the ICT Minister in October aiming to build a long strategic partnership between the two parties.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed a number of proposed projects, to be implemented this year, including new technology parks and national projects such as the new administrative capital. They also discussed the building of a strong industry in electronics designing and manufacturing, and establishing a research and training laboratory for the company’s technologies in the field of 4G, LTE networks in new technology parks.

In this context, ElKady said that a number of international companies have established their presence in the new technology parks, particularly those specialised in the field of telecommunications, IT services exports and outsourcing. During their talks, the ICT Minister pointed to the competitive advantages of the Egyptian market represented in trained manpower, incentives offered by the Egyptian government and the environment that supports and stimulates creativity at the new technology parks.

For his part, ZTE Egypt CEO promised that the company will accelerate developing projects that have been discussed and will announce them during the coming period. ZTE Corporation is specialized in the field of developing fixed and mobile infrastructure and provide various communication equipment as wireless communications systems.

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady also received Hewlett Packard officials, headed by its Vice President for Networks in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Alan Carpenter, where they discussed future plans for the company activities in the Egyptian market and means of strategic cooperation.

This is meant to deepen its presence in the Egyptian market as an active partner in the technological development efforts carried out by the state and supervised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. During the meeting, they agreed on starting the study of establishing an excellence and innovation centre in the field of mobility solutions at New Assiut Technology Park.

The meeting was also attended by HP Country Manager Egypt Khaled Helmy, HP Aruba Networks Regional Executive Director Amar Enaya and HP Networks Regional Manager Yahya Amasi.
