IDC to host fourth edition of West Africa CIO Summit in Lagos

West Africa’s most influential ICT executives will gather at the Renaissance Lagos Ikeja Hotel this week as International Data Corporation (IDC) hosts the fourth annual edition of its annual West Africa CIO Summit. Taking place on Thursday, 18 May, the event will focus on the theme of ‘Enabling Dynamic Change for the Digital Era’.

Showcasing a series of informative presentations, interactive panel discussions and best-practice case studies, the West Africa CIO Summit 2017 will see IDC analysts join forces with some of the world’s most innovative ICT vendors and end-users. The event provides a platform for industry stakeholders to explore the latest ICT developments and trends shaping the region’s investment landscape and a chance to share their experiences of overcoming the core challenges associated with enabling digital transformation.

“IDC’s CIO Summit Series has been at the forefront of ICT thought leadership across the Middle East and Africa since its inception in 2008, and the 2017 edition for West Africa will once again leverage IDC’s expertise as the leading global ICT research and advisory services firm,” says Mark Walker, IDC’s Associate Vice President for sub-Saharan Africa. “As such, we will be convening the sector’s key stakeholders to discuss the pertinent ICT issues that are shaping the industry today and increasingly becoming the critical business differentiators of tomorrow.”

Walker will open proceedings by presenting the event’s keynote address, ‘Developing the New IT Capabilities for Digital Transformation’, before passing the mantle on to an eclectic mix of vendors, end-users and IDC analysts, who will address a broad range of topics, including:

• From CIO to CDO: Innovate, Integrate, and Incorporate
• Digital Transformation – A New World of Opportunities
• Combating Cyber Risks with Smart Security Solutions
• SMAC – Welcome to the Future of Business
• Living in the Future Cities of Tomorrow: Innovation Brings the Future Closer
• The Future is Here – How Breakthrough Tech Innovations Are Shaping Our Region
• Digital Transformation: Creating an Innovative and Digitally Competent IT Organisation

The summit will outline where CIOs’ IT investment priorities should lie over the coming years and explain what measures they should be weighing up in order to thrive in the digital era, with respected thought leaders examining the opportunities that technological advances are creating for businesses to sharpen their competitive edge. IDC will wrap up proceedings by presenting some forward-looking insights into the future of the ICT market in sub-Saharan Africa.
