The SOOGREEN consortium has won the CELTIC Excellence Award for Network Technologies. Flexenclosure is a key participant in the SOOGREEN project – Service-Oriented Optimization of Green Mobile Networks – contributing world-class expertise in energy efficient battery charging technologies.
At the CELTIC Event in Valencia on June 19 – co-located with the European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC) and the Global 5G event – the SOOGREEN project won the CELTIC Award for its outstanding work in reducing the energy consumption of services in different mobile network architectures. Key achievements were an increase in the energy efficiency of wireless networks and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, both of which will deliver significant environmental, economic and social benefits.
“We have achieved new benchmarks for lithium battery energy utilisation, the implications of which are profound both for on- and off-grid applications,” said Tomas Rahkonen, CTO, Flexenclosure. “We are looking forward to continuing our research in this field and bringing new cutting-edge green power technologies to telecom networks in developing nations.”
A core participant in SOOGREEN, Flexenclosure collaborated with 13 companies from four countries and contributed vital expertise and insights in the area of energy efficient battery charging technologies. Flexenclosure is a world leader in energy efficient power systems for telecom networks in emerging markets. Its eSite x10 is the world’s first power system purpose-built for outdoor telecom sites and to outdoor telecom standards and Flexenclosure has a long history of eSite deployments in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.
CELTIC-NEXT is the ICT cluster under the umbrella of EUREKA focusing on Next Generation Telecommunications for the Digital Society. The programme facilitates bottom-up projects, thus offering the chance of both evolutionary as well as disruptive innovation in all relevant ICT areas, without limiting their creativity and ambition.
