Presight chosen to propel Digital Transformation by Gambia’s Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy

Presight, one of the region’s leading big data analytics powered by generative AI companines, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gambia’s Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (MOCDE) during Gitex Africa 2024.

This strategic partnership aims to bolster the Digital Transformation efforts in the West African country, laying the groundwork for significant advancements in the nation’s communications infrastructure.

Tasked with building and maintaining Gambia’s national communications infrastructure, the MOCDE plays a pivotal role in supporting the country’s overall national development. As part of the agreement between Presight and MOCDE, the two entities will embark on a two phased comprehensive collaboration to enhance digital services and cybersecurity measures across Gambia.

Under the agreement, the first phase will focus on the development of digital government services and a national digital identity initiative, both of which are crucial for improving public service delivery and ensuring secure, streamlined access to government resources.

Additionally, Presight will support the establishment of a national data center, which will serve as the backbone for the country’s digital initiatives.

The second phase of the collaboration will see the establishment of a national safety operations center, designed to safeguard Gambia’s digital infrastructure against potential threats. Alongside this, the creation of a Digital Supply Chain Security Lab will ensure the integrity and security of digital transactions and communications, fostering a safe digital environment for businesses and citizens alike.

Dr Adel Al Sharji, COO of Presight who signed the MOU on behalf of the company, said: “This agreement marks a significant step towards building a robust digital ecosystem that will empower Gambia’s citizens and businesses. We are excited to contribute towards Gambia’s Digital Transformation which involves a creation of a secure, efficient and inclusive digital infrastructure.’’

Lamin Camara, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, said: “The signing of this MOU between the Ministry of Communications and Presight is a significant breakthrough for both parties.

“We first met Presight at Gitex Africa last year and explored a possible partnership and collaboration to realise the five strategic pillars of our Digital Transformation strategy, and so the signing of this MOU marks a significant milestone in cementing our relations.

We believe that Presight is the right partner for us considering their incredible achievements, and formidable experience in the areas of digital transformation, technology advancement and innovation, and firmly believe that together, we can make it happen big time.”
