The University of Otago Foundation Studies Limited has gone live with the Tribal Student Information System, ebs, to improve the way the center collects, collates, analyzes and shares information, helping to optimize the student journey and support its growth.
The University of Otago Foundation Studies Limited, a provider of expert English language tuition and undergraduate degree entry qualification certificates, has announced its deployment of Tribal’s Student Information System, ebs.
The ebs solution will improve the way the center collects, collates, analyzes and shares information, helping to optimize the student journey and support its growth.
ebs replaces Tribal’s Campus Student Management System and will realize a range of benefits for the organization, including streamlining of processes and delivering an enhanced user experience for staff.
“I am extremely pleased that we decided to deploy ebs and can see it adding value and benefits to the organization as well as supporting positive student outcomes for years to come,” said Suzi Brown, Operations Manager, Foundation Studies Ltd, University of Otago.
“The Tribal Project Team have been excellent to work with and delivered the project on time and on budget. At the same time, user feedback has been positive, and our teams are looking forward to see how the system will support them in their roles. I would gladly recommend Tribal to anyone.”
ebs will modernize and enable integrations to other University of Otago systems in the future. The solution will also allow the Foundation Studies and Language Center to become more streamlined in how it shares student data with the University of Otago SITS:vision Student Information System.
Following the initial go-live of ebs this month, the university plans to implement ebs:OnTrack portals for students. This added functionality will provide real time access to important datasets including but not limited to assessment and attendance data.
James Vind, Business Systems and Project Manager, Foundation Studies Ltd, University of Otago, said: “To have any project delivered on time and on budget is a project manager’s dream. It’s even more a dream in light of the challenging environmental factors with the global pandemic and other external challenges.
“We are already looking forward to the future and improving how we work to enable us to streamline other departments, like homestay, finance and other integrations, and feed them into ebs. We want to streamline reporting and I’m looking forward to exploring more about what ebs can do for us now, including the potential for its business intelligence module. I have been particularly impressed with how Tribal managed the project, set expectations and communicated in a timely and efficient manner.”
Around 750 students enrol in The University of Otago Foundation Year annually. It offers a university entrance qualification, called the Foundation Studies Certificate which is recognized by all New Zealand universities. At the same time, it prepares students for all undergraduate degrees offered at the University of Otago through the four academic divisions – commerce, health sciences, humanities, sciences.
Tribal Group General Manager (NZ), Steve Exley, said: “The success of the migration and on time go-live during the COVID-19 pandemic is testament to the great collaboration between the Tribal and university project teams.
“This deployment at The University of Otago Foundation Studies is another milestone for Tribal with this being our fifth cloud implementation of ebs in New Zealand and our first implementation done entirely via remote working during the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re looking forward to continuing this relationship and providing support for the Foundation Studies center post go-live.”
Tribal is also the Student Information System provider embedded at the University of Otago with its solution SITS:vision, and ebs is also deployed at Otago Polytechnic, Ara Institute of Canterbury, Nelson & Marlborough Institute of Technology, Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology and Manukau Institute of Technology as well as several leading private training and English language providers.
