Manila Broadcasting Company amps up Digital Transformation

The Manila Broadcasting Company has strengthened its partnership with PLDT Enterprise with a new deal to enhance the radio network’s business efficiency and network security – utilizing the cloud-based Google Workspace powered by ePLDT.

Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) the listed broadcast network behind popular Philippine radio stations DzRH, Yes FM and Love Radio, is transforming itself into a one-stop multimedia partner by maximizing Google Workspace (GWS) with the help of PLDT Enterprise, the corporate business arm of PLDT – the country’s largest integrated telecommunications group – and PLDT’s ICT subsidiary, ePLDT.

As radio audiences transition to the digital realm and content delivery can be personalized, leveraging the power of GWS is part of MBC’s ongoing transformation of going beyond radio to become a content-based company.

PLDT Enterprise, through ePLDT, which is a Premier Google Workspace Partner, recently deployed GWS to allow MBC to benefit from the software’s suite of secure and uniform productivity and collaboration tools.

“The media business has been changing. A lot of audiences now are in the digital space, so we have to transform and become a platform that embraces new technology to reach this market segment. We are confident that with this partnership with PLDT Enterprise and ePLDT, our Digital Transformation will be seamless and collaboration among our teams will be more efficient and effective,” said Ruperto Nicdao, MBC President.

Nicdao said that MBC has established a Digital Media Department intended to support their existing business platform and create more content that is not solely related to their current business.

“Content is where the audience is,” he said.

ePLDT is confident it could steward and effectively assist MBC in its journey to become a content-based company.

“ePLDT undertakes this collaborative journey with MBC to guide them in their Digital Transformation as they veer towards creating more relevant content for their audience,” said Victor S. Genuino, President and CEO at ePLDT.

Sasha Elizalde-Del Rosario, Manila Broadcasting Company AVP & Head of Digital Marketing, said the broadcast company is excited to move into a digital business. It was with the same innovative mindset and heart for service that cemented their legacy as the nation’s go-to source for news, information, and entertainment. “This is the future. We need to keep reaching out and speaking to our audiences,” she said.

MBC, the 75-year-old radio broadcast network majority owned by the Elizalde Group, was already provisioned by PLDT Enterprise with a variety of services including Premium Internet, Sip Trunk, Postpaid and SmartBro lines to support them in their Digital Transformation journey.

With GWS, MBC will be equipped with resources such as Gmail for business, Calendar, Meet, Chat, Drive and Docs for further improving coordination within their business and enhanced productivity.

MBC aims to utilize all available technology in the process of digitalizing its business.

“At PLDT Enterprise, our commitment to our partners transcends to more than technology provision. We stand as the Digital Transformation ally for organizations like MBC, understanding the complexity of their industry and aiding them in realizing their business aspirations,” said Mitch L. Locsin, First Vice President and Head of Enterprise and International Business Groups at PLDT and Smart.

“Through the adoption of these digital solutions within MBC’s business units, we are supporting them to fulfill their vision of cultivating an enhanced working environment that will further drive their business to success.”

Albert Villa-Real, PLDT Global President and CEO and PLDT Enterprise Revenue Group Head, reaffirms this commitment to go ‘Further, Together’ with their partners in advancing toward shared success through its suite of solutions.

“It is part of our company mission to cultivate innovation, creativity, excellence and leadership. Through this partnership, we acknowledge that our future competitiveness depends on the continuous development of our existing businesses as well as venturing boldly into emerging industries,” Nicdao said.

He expects MBC to grow even bigger in the next 25 years – with the help of the PLDT Group – to realize its corporate vision “to continuously be the leader in the media industry in providing global audiences with relevant content and advertisers with cost-effective ways to reach target audiences.”
