WithSecure has announced the launch of a new data processing location in Japan, expanding its data residency capabilities for Salesforce customers in the area.
The new data centre, which is expected to be available by the end of 2024, is an addition to existing data centres in the USA, EU, Australia and Singapore, reinforcing WithSecure’s commitment to enterprise-grade Salesforce security in Japan.
Data residency is crucial to the cybersecurity strategies of organisations operating in regulated industries like finance and the public sector. WithSecure’s new data centre in Japan expands its footprint in the region and helps Japanese customers meet stringent local data residency requirements.
Furthermore, WithSecure addresses the tightening of Japanese compliance demands by meeting requirements such as Information System Security Management and Assessment Program (ISMAP) criteria.
Currently, data residency control is available as part of WithSecure’s Salesforce security offering. By using WithSecure for Cloud Protection for Salesforce, customers can meet their Salesforce security obligations as defined by the Shared Responsibility Model.
The natively integrated application stops cyberthreats like ransomware and phishing in real-time on Salesforce by scanning incoming and outgoing data such as files and URLs. The solution is deployed in minutes. It keeps Salesforce operations running undisrupted and has no impact on customisation.
This is why more than 200 enterprises and public sector organisations worldwide use WithSecure Cloud Protection for Salesforce and why it is recommended by Salesforce as a security solution.
Takehito Watanabe, Sales Director at WithSecure Japan, said: “Organisations are looking to stay ahead of the curve and grow their business while complying with local data protection regulations.
“For many of our clients, being able to choose where to process their Salesforce security data is not just about solving a compliance issue, but improving the performance of the services they provide, building trust with their customers and fortifying security.”
Why Salesforce data residency in Japan matters:
- Local data residency in Japan : Meet the most stringent data residency requirements and optimise the performance of your Salesforce applications. The new data centre allows for local data processing, ensuring that data generated and used in Japan stays within the country. This is particularly beneficial for industries and organisations subject to strict data processing regulations, such as governments and public sectors.
- Fortified trust: Showing dedication to data residency and compliance builds trust and reassurance among customers and stakeholders.
- Competitive edge: By focusing on the secure handling of sensitive information and compliance with privacy standards, organisations can gain a competitive advantage in the market.
- Enhanced performance and speed: By processing data locally, organisations can expect improved app responsiveness and faster data handling capabilities, enhancing speed and user experience.
- Easy in-app configuration: WithSecure Cloud Protection for Salesforce provides a simple configuration when selecting a data processing location. Administrators can easily select their preferred data processing location directly within the application, enabling quick adjustments to meet evolving needs.
WithSecure continues to prioritise secure and compliant data handling, ensuring that all customer data is managed according to the highest security and compliance standards.
Its global network of data centres not only provides robust Salesforce security but also supports the requirements of critical industries handling sensitive and regulated data. Adherence to local standards and regulations is critical to utilising Salesforce as a trusted cloud platform.
Jussi Wäre, Vice President of APAC & Japan, WithSecure Cloud Protection for Salesforce, said: “Many countries are beginning to view data as a critical resource and are regulating how it is processed and protected. Organisations need practical solutions. It is our and our partner’s responsibility to help organisations meet these security requirements without being distracted from pursuing strategic goals.”
