Since March 29, 2017, the previously used DVB-T system has been replaced in Germany by the much more efficient successor system DVB-T2. The migration process is to be completed by 2019 at the latest with the shutdown of the last DVB-T transmitter.
The new DVB-T2 system, which offers more flexibility, higher availability and 50 percent more transmission capacity than the DVB-T system, is in Germany combined with the much more efficient video coding method HEVC and H.265. Also in neighbouring European countries, e.g. In Austria, the new DVB-T2 system is used.
Teleste has already extended its successful Headend platform Luminato last year with a new multi-standard receiver module and thus prepared in time for the introduction of DVB-T2. This multi-standard receiver module is suitable for receiving and processing all common signal forms such as DVB-S / S2 / S2X, DVB-T / T2, DVB-C or ISDB-T, these can be both “free-to-air” and encrypted signals.
Many network operators and broadcasters use Telestes Luminato platform with the multi-standard receiver module now also for the DVB-T2 reception.
Vodafone Kabel Deutschland, Germany’s biggest cable TV network operator has also decided for the Luminato platform from Teleste. The Luminato system is used there for the reception of TV signals which, for technical or other reasons, e.g. regionalised programs, are not available through other means of distribution.
The Luminato system was able to convince Vodafone Kabel Deutschland not only of the most modern processing of DVB-T2 receivers but also by its high flexibility, user-friendly menu guidance and monitoring possibilities. Luminato is scalable in hardware and software and can thus be optimally adapted for many applications.
