The connected digital landscape offers businesses the potential to reach a much broader customer base, however it also brings increased risk of online scams and security breaches. Digital agency, Pedalo, is leading the way in website management and support, helping to prevent cyberattacks and assisting companies in making the most of opportunities online.
Research published by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, has revealed that four in 10 businesses (43%) and two in 10 charities (19%) have experienced a cybersecurity breach or attack in the last 12 months. Attacks can seriously damage a business and bring an unexpected additional financial burden, as well as negatively impacting company reputation.
The research goes on to demonstrate that less than three in 10 businesses (27%, versus 33% in the previous 2017 survey) and only two in 10 charities (21%), have a formal cybersecurity policy in place.
Based on such studies and a thorough evaluation of the landscape in which it operates, Pedalo has seen the need for web management increasing at a rapid rate and has adapted its business model accordingly, developing a cutting-edge service to meet demand.
Guy Courtney, Director of Pedalo, explained: “Automated bots are constantly searching the Internet for websites with security weaknesses. If a site is hacked or infected, customer data and payment information could be at risk and sites could be completely rewritten, with severe consequences. We have evolved our offering in line with the current situation; the security aspect of what we do has doubled in the last year, with site security management an area of real focus for us. When we take care of website security, companies can rest assured that their sites are safe and protected – there’s no need to worry about viruses, vulnerabilities or security breaches anymore.”
With over 18 years of experience in website management and design, Pedalo offers an expert, tailored and friendly approach, operating from a central London office. Its large portfolio of clients includes commercial companies, charities and membership organisations, several of which have been working with Pedalo since its inception. Website security services clients include Care International, University of West London, ELGA LabWater, IOM3, World Cancer Research Fund, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and many others.
Courtney continued: “Although many people may think they are prepared for cyberattacks, this research shows that companies need to have better policies in place. We tailor our security and other website maintenance services to meet the unique requirements of each business. We also perform all necessary security updates and testing without disrupting a company’s normal day-to-day work.”
Pedalo’s website security services include vulnerability assessments, converting sites to HTTPS, updating site software to the latest versions, applying and maintaining security protection, increasing password security, ensuring compliance with data protection/GDPR laws, implementing regular security patches and creating and managing data backups.
