French airports elevate passenger experience with Extreme Networks

Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Paris-Orly (ORY), France’s two largest airports managed by Groupe ADP, have modernised their operations with Extreme Networks’ advanced connectivity solutions.

As air travel reached record highs in 2024, French airports turned to cutting-edge networking technology to ensure seamless passenger experiences, enhanced security and operational efficiency.

In partnership with SPIE ICS, CDG and ORY have integrated Extreme Fabric, ExtremeCloud IQ and Universal hardware to streamline connectivity for millions of travellers and thousands of airline staff. The airports recently executed a network upgrade, replacing outdated switches across 700 technical locations without disrupting 24/7 operations. This overhaul has improved bandwidth by 10 to 25 times, standardised technical processes and increased energy efficiency.

“With Extreme solutions, we’re automating more and more tasks and empowering teams working onsite,” said Nicolas Apchie, Head of Infrastructure and IT Operations, Groupe ADP. “The automation tools we’re implementing with Extreme are making our day-to-day operations much easier.”

Extreme’s secure, cloud-managed network enables real-time co-ordination between airport staff, improves baggage tracking and enhances passenger services like Wi-Fi, kiosks and mobile applications. By leveraging Extreme’s analytics, airports can optimise foot traffic flow, manage peak travel times and provide an uninterrupted digital experience.

As French airports continue to modernise, their investment in robust networking infrastructure ensures resilience, security and superior service, setting a benchmark for global air travel technology.
