Austrian financial services group, Wüstenrot Gruppe, has selected Kyndryl, the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider, to modernise its core mainframe infrastructure.
The agreement will see Wüstenrot leverage Kyndryl’s new strategic zCloud environment.
Wüstenrot Gruppe aims to enhance its digital resilience and meet evolving regulatory standards through the partnership.
“We are partnering with Kyndryl to modernise our IT infrastructure with the aim to further develop our product portfolio, scale efficiently and continue our digital innovation initiatives,” said Roland Freitag, Managing Director, Wüstenrot Gruppe.
The new technology services agreement will enable Wüstenrot Gruppe to streamline the management and operation of its mainframe environment. It is also expected to bolster the company’s cyber resilience and facilitate compliance with evolving regulatory requirements, including the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and NIS2.
Maria Kirschner, Managing Director of Kyndryl Alps, said: “By leveraging Kyndryl’s deep mainframe skills and expertise and the flexible zCloud environment, Wüstenrot Gruppe can continue to deliver reliable customer services, meet evolving business requirements, improve resilience and ensure regulatory compliance.”
In 2024, Wüstenrot Gruppe completed the initial phase of its IT transformation by migrating mainframe workloads from a third-party data centre to Kyndryl’s secure zCloud platform. Further plans for 2025 include implementing a Parallel Sysplex configuration to enhance resilience by managing multiple systems and resources from a single platform.
