XXImo, a leading European platform for mobility payments, has completed a full migration of its transaction processing infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Supported by cloud services specialists CloudNation, the move positions XXImo as one of the first companies globally to process 100% of its card transactions in the cloud, integrating Visa Cloud Connect and Amazon Payment Cryptography (APC) on the AWS platform.
Bart Boonen, Co-founder and CTO at CloudNation, said: “This transition establishes a strong foundation for XXImo’s continued growth and innovation in the mobility payments industry.”
By handling both transaction processing and data encryption entirely within the cloud environment, XXImo reduces its reliance on physical hardware, leading to lower maintenance costs and enhanced system performance and resilience.
The move is in line with the broader trend within the payments sector towards cashless transactions, fuelled by the increasing adoption of digital wallets and mobile payment solutions, alongside the growing expectation for instant payment systems offering real-time transactions and greater user convenience.
“Establishing secure AWS PrivateLink connectivity with Visa Cloud Connect enables a secure connection without traversing the public internet, while at the same time reducing integration times to streamline the entire transaction processing flow,” said Scott Mullins, Managing Director, Financial Services, AWS.
“With elastic scaling and local AWS Region support for low latency, XXImo can focus more on growing their business and less on their infrastructure.”
With projections indicating a robust annual growth rate of approximately 5% in global business travel expenditure, expected to exceed US$2 trillion by 2028 (GBTA, 2024), XXImo’s cloud-first strategy strategically positions it to effectively cater to the evolving demands of modern businesses.
XXImo’s early adoption of Visa Cloud Connect also enables a direct and secure integration with Visa’s network, eliminating the need for on-premises infrastructure and facilitating seamless scaling and expansion of its mobility payment capabilities across new territories.
Additionally, by adopting a cloud-native, pay-per-use encryption model, XXImo boosts cost efficiency while upholding the highest security standards for transaction data.
“By migrating to AWS, we are accelerating our ability to scale, innovate, and enhance our service delivery. With Visa Cloud Connect and APC, combined with our strategic partnerships with Visa, AWS, and CloudNation, we now process transactions with even greater efficiency and security. This transition enables us to offer improved SLAs, ensuring higher reliability and customer satisfaction. Additionally, we now have access to a wealth of on-demand services and expertise, allowing us to optimise operations and continuously enhance our platform’s capabilities,” said Zaheer Sacranie, CTO at XXImo.
“Visa Cloud Connect provides a secure and flexible solution for companies like XXImo to modernise their payment infrastructure,” added Ian Lundberg, Chief Officer, SVP Client Services Europe at Visa.
