WANdisco Fusion integrates with Microsoft Azure Data Box

WANdisco, a world leader in Active Data Replication® today announced that its patented technology, WANdisco Fusion®, is fully integrated with Microsoft Azure Data Box. With WANdisco Fusion®, Microsoft customers can use Azure Data Box to transfer information from Big Data applications to Microsoft Azure without the downtime and cost usually involved in bulk data transfer over the network. Other benefits of WANdisco Fusion® for Azure Data Box include:

  • Efficiency: WANdisco Fusion® enables Microsoft customers to take advantage of the storage on Azure Data Box for bulk data transfer without the delays of data transfer over the network. With this solution, users can continue to write to their local cluster while Azure Data Box is in transit and subsequently being uploaded, and replicate those changes to the Azure Cloud with guaranteed consistency once the upload is complete.
  • No downtime and no business disruption: Users can write data to a local HDFS-compatible endpoint on-premises and replicate to a storage location in Microsoft Azure with no modification or disruption to applications operating in Hadoop clusters on-premises.
  • Selective replication: An administrator can select subsets of content for replication, with fine-grained control over where data resides.

David Richards, Co-Founder and CEO of WANdisco said:
“The integration of WANdisco Fusion® with Azure Data Box means Microsoft customers can take full advantage of the lower cost of storage and range of services available in Azure whilst still being able to replicate any changes on-premises – something no other solution can provide.”

Dean Paron, General Manager for Azure Data Box at Microsoft said:
“By using WANdisco Fusion for Microsoft Azure Data Box, customers can burst their Big Data processing needs to the Azure Cloud while maintaining on-premises consistency.”
