The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL) and Wind Telecom have started the new fiber optic network in the Villa Gautier municipal district, San Pedro de Macorís. This project will allow the community to contract high-speed and low latencies Internet services.
This initiative is part of the multiple agreements signed by INDOTEL with different telecom service providers to ensure the necessary investments are for deploying infrastructure.
During the inauguration, Nelson Arroyo, Board of Directors President, INDOTEL, expressed that since he arrived at the institution, his mission has been to take the necessary steps to achieve the closure of the digital divide and that the conditions ensure the deployment of telecommunications infrastructure in underserved or low-penetration areas.
Arroyo said: “This is another demonstration of what we can achieve when there is a willingness to improve the Dominican Republic and the lives of each of its citizens.”
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the governor of the province, Aracelis Villanueva, the Mayor of Villa Gautier, Rafael Anglón, and the congressman Luis Gómez.
Wind Telecom was represented by the President of the company, José Clase. The engineer Manuel Estrella, Administrative Council President, Estrella Group, also participated in the activity held in the municipal district park.
