Fábio de Carvalho Vieira, CEO, SaveinCloud

What would you describe as your most memorable achievement?

My most memorable achievement was acquiring the client portfolio of the company Internet2000 when I was just 19 years old, purchasing a business 30 times larger than ours and paying in installments over three years. It was a significant challenge that turned out successfully.

What first made you think of a career in technology?

What brought me into technology was attending the ETEC technical high school in Campinas, São Paulo.

What style of management philosophy do you employ in your current position?

A style that consistently works with indicators that provide the direction of the right path, coupled with the blend of talented individuals who are eager to develop themselves.

What do you think is the current hot technology conversation topic?

I believe that cloud, security, performance and high availability are the most talked-about technological subjects at the moment.

How do you deal with stress and relax outside of the office?

I believe that we have built an ideal infrastructure for our business, which brings us greater peace of mind compared to what we had before. It was a significant financial and time investment to reach where we are now.

Outside the office, I dedicate myself 100% to my family, to my children, helping them with their activities, especially sports, which, for me, is the best way to relax outside of work.

If you could go back and change one career decision, what would it be?

The only thing I would change in my career decisions would be not starting a Computer Science degree. I ended up losing a year trying to pursue the technical college path. If I had advanced my business administration career during that year, I believe it could have led to some better outcomes in my career sooner. However, it’s a detail that perhaps wouldn’t change anything significant.

What do you currently identify as the top investment areas in your industry?

Information security and the pursuit of stable cloud environments.

What are the specific challenges of the region when implementing new technologies in Latin America?

Latin America still has a very traditional, conventional mindset. Developed countries have a different attitude towards technology. In our region, we are quite resistant to these technological transformations. I see that we need to break down these barriers here in Latin America.

What changes have you seen in your job role in the last year and how do you think they will develop in the next 12 months?

I’ve noticed that one of the main changes is the establishment of new departments. And for the next 12 months, I believe that solidifying the processes of these new departments will be a significant advancement for our sector.

What advice would you give someone aspiring to a C-level position in your industry?

If you are young, prioritize learning and your career. Seek a place where you can grow professionally. Make the most of the talented individuals on your team and within your company, trying to absorb as much as you can.

Bring solutions to your departments, not just problems. Hold yourself accountable daily to deliver results in your areas and find ways to achieve that. Take advantage of the opportunity to acquire swift knowledge through tools and content available on the Internet but also consider solidifying your career with specialization in your field.
