However, moving towards a successful and secure 5G ecosystem requires a comprehensive approach that includes not only the expansion of network infrastructure but also the implementation of robust cybersecurity and data protection measures.
The vast majority of Latin American countries have advanced initiatives focused on conceptually redefining and updating their personal data protection regulations.

State of 5G in Latin America
5G adoption in Latin America is advancing steadily, with eight countries offering commercial 5G services by early 2023.
The number of 5G connections is anticipated to increase significantly, with rapid growth expected in the latter half of the decade. By 2030, around 60 percent of all mobile connections in the region will be 5G.
Consumer demand is robust, as nearly two-thirds of Latin Americans express an interest in upgrading to 5G.
Similarly, enterprises are keen on 5G, private networks, and Edge Computing, viewing them as essential for driving Digital Transformation. This mirrors trends in more developed 5G markets like the US.
However, challenges persist in terms of investment and affordability, requiring policy intervention to accelerate deployment and improve the quality of 5G services across the region.
