Sungrow, a global leader in renewable energy technology, has supplied cutting-edge 1+X modular inverters to the Vista Alegre project – a 902 MWp solar plant in Brazil that is one of the largest photovoltaic projects in the Americas.
The project is located in Minas Gerais and will primarily use 902 MWp (778 MWac) general-scale solar under the 21-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
Designed to be connected to the electricity grid in 2025, the project is pitched as generating 2 TWh of electricity per year on average.
The energy generated by Vista Alegre is equivalent to supplying clean and sustainable energy to about one million families in Brazil or avoiding about 154,000 tons of CO₂ per year.
For this landmark project, Sungrow will provide a complete solution that includes inverters, power transformers, medium-voltage switchboards and auxiliary systems – all within a 40-foot container.
The project will have 75 units of 8.8 MW and 18 units of 6.6 MW inverters, in addition to all cold and hot commissioning services and operation and maintenance training.
Ada Li, Vice President, Sungrow Americas, said: “This is one of the largest solar projects in the Americas, located in Brazil, a country with great potential for increased solar power generation, offering energy security and independence and reducing carbon emissions in this vital decade in the clean energy transition – we look forward to advancing this project.”
