Smart Farm supports agribusiness with satellite imaging services, telemetry, weather stations, soil sampling and data processing.
Embratel has announced the launch of the Smart Farm solutions platform to boost the adoption of connectivity and digital tools in agribusiness.
The new solution combines cutting-edge technologies and connectivity and was developed in partnership with Farmers Edge, a specialist in digital agricultural solutions, to create an innovative, more sustainable, and connected ecosystem to support strategic decision-making in the field.
The platform includes high-resolution satellite imaging services, weather stations, telemetry, soil sampling, data processing with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, a data management application, as well as support and customized training for farmers.
“Through Smart Farm, Embratel enables its clients in the field to make effectively informed decisions about the various stages of their business, from planting to harvest,” said Adriano Rosa, Executive Director of Embratel.
According to Rosa, the proposal is to assist in the technological development of agribusiness, providing modern solutions to ensure higher quality, productivity and safety on farms.
“We are very happy to offer innovative solutions to this sector that is so important for Brazil,” he said.
To support the implementation, curation and sustainability of farm digitalization, Embratel is offering its technology experts, capable of integrating other IT and Telecom solutions according to the needs of field clients.
“Our experience in the sector can help increase productivity in the field and better utilize these areas,” said Embratel’s Executive Director, noting that Claro’s high-quality connectivity is already embedded in the solutions to ensure continuous access to agribusiness monitoring and management data. The systems can also include Internet of Things (IoT) devices capable of operating autonomously for measuring all fronts, including soil, water quantity, and even fertilizers.
“Our customers can benefit from a complete offering to transform their agricultural businesses,” said Eduardo Polidoro, Director of IoT at Claro.
The Smart Farm platform is available to the market with four modules:
- Smart Imagery provides high-frequency and high-resolution satellite images, as well as exclusive maps of the farms. Through the management of this data, automatic detection of possible pests, diseases, nutritional deficiencies, climatic injuries, application failures, equipment malfunctions and drainage problems is made. Upon recognizing any change, the solution automatically notifies the farmer to make the necessary corrections.
- Smart Insite performs crop monitoring and digital agriculture, with a special focus on weather. The solution enables and enhances agronomic decisions through field data capture and allows for predictive analysis and modeling. It consists of a weather station that collects information on weather conditions, such as humidity, temperature, precipitation in real-time; and offers high-frequency, high-resolution satellite images. This way, it’s possible to understand the microclimate of the property, better planning operations according to weather conditions.
- Smart: The solution combines the technologies and functionalities of Smart Imagery and Smart Insite offerings, adding the use of telemetry to monitor equipment, such as harvesters, in real time. Telemetry allows for machinery tracking, also providing a history of routes and other indicators. Thus, operations are monitored, allowing immediate adjustments in case of incorrect equipment use, such as inadequate speed while moving. It also enables the identification of potential operational failures and fuel usage savings.
- Smart VR: The solution brings the functionalities and technologies of the Smart offering, in addition to agronomic consultancy that performs soil sampling and analysis, enabling optimization and correct application of inputs, fertilizers and amendments, with planting maps. The solution supports resource-saving and the adoption of better sustainable practices.
All these solutions come with a management application that presents all the indicators collected by the tools in real-time, benefiting the scheduling of operations and the execution of predictive procedures to improve the harvesting process.
“We are excited about the partnership with Embratel in our mission to modernize Brazilian agriculture. This strategic alliance will help farmers make more informed decisions, increase productivity and boost efficiency in their operations,” said Celso Macedo, Vice President of Latin America at Farmers Edge.
“Our partnership with Embratel reflects our commitment to providing the best solutions that meet the unique challenges faced by farmers in rural areas of Brazil and improve digital adoption. Together, we are working towards a more sustainable and digitally connected future for agriculture in Brazil,” said Vibhore Arora, CEO of Farmers Edge.
