Meta has announced a collaboration with the Organization of American States (OAS) to bring free Augmented Reality (AR) online courses to Latin America and the Caribbean.
Meta will train more than 10,000 creators through free online AR courses, a first step to take Latin America and the Caribbean to the Metaverse and open new economic opportunities in 35 countries in the region.
The training courses will seek to develop skills in the use of AR over the next three years. They offer three levels of difficulty, from basic to advanced, to support emerging and more experienced creators: The Spark AR Basic Course, Spark AR Fundamentals and the Spark AR Pro course.
This initiative was announced during the OAS Youth Academy for Transformative Technologies event and marks Meta’s first investment in AR globally from its XR Research and Programs Fund of US$50 million to build the Metaverse responsibly.
The initiative will offer Spark AR courses in Spanish, Portuguese and English, with the participation of local creators.
Creators who complete all modules and pass the exam will receive a Spark AR Certification to validate their knowledge and skills. Also, it will give them access to the Facebook Professional Certification Network, a job search platform that includes companies seeking qualified talent.
