A study by IDC Brazil has revealed an 8.7% drop in wearable sales in the country but there are also signs of recovery.
In the first three months of 2023, the number of wearable devices sold in Brazil went down by 8.7% compared to the same period last year. However, there are positive signs that the market is starting to bounce back.
The data considers seven categories of products: fitbands, advanced smartwatches, basic smartwatches, truly wireless earbuds, earwear/over-ear headphones, tethered earbuds and other types of earwear.
This information is part of the IDC Tracker Brazil Wearables Q12023 study, conducted by IDC Brazil, a leading market intelligence, consulting services, and conferences provider for the Information Technology and Telecommunications industries.
Out of all the product types analyzed by IDC, only truly wireless earbuds showed growth during the period, with a 45.3% increase in units sold, reaching a total of 303,191.
“There is a significant increase in the results for truly wireless earbuds that is not seen in the other models. This is due to greater consumer interest in wireless products and, mainly, a trend of reducing their prices,” said Andréia Chopra, Research and Consulting Analyst for Consumer Devices at IDC Brazil.
