In line with its vision of creating a better connected world, Huawei worked with Ajman Municipality to extend its network accessibility with the deployment of WiFi, which delivers widespread coverage across all of its municipal buildings.
To quickly adapt to the challenges created by the consumerisation of IT, government services are realising the need to transform their network architectures.
Rapid developments of new services such as mobile applications, cloud computing, Big Data, social networking and the Internet of Things (IoT) are driving many government entities to develop systems that can cater for real-time performance, mobility, scalability and higher-quality experiences for their users.
Replacing a wired infrastructure, Huawei deployed a secured wireless environment at the Municipality enabling a more connected and more productive mobile workforce. In addition, the WiFi solution provides the Municipality with a flexible and comprehensive infrastructure that is capable of supporting sustainable development and future growth of the network.
After announcing its promise to implement Ajman’s Vision 2021 projects that will help build a knowledge economy, this project marks the beginning of the Municipality’s commitment to turn its vision 2021 into reality, starting from the inside.
Yousuf Mohammed Al Shaiba, Director of Smart Services Development Department said: “The deployment of the WiFi network marks the first step in delivering the promises we set out in our vision 2021 for Ajman. We believed that in order to take our Ajman vision 2021 from concept to reality, we had to first become a smart organization. Huawei’s WiFi solution future-proofs our network, offers connectivity services to citizens visiting our facilities and gives our employees increased flexibility to work at any location on-site.”
Ajman’s 2021 vision was announced earlier this year by Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council who outlined a focus on developing initiatives that would improve the lives of its citizens. The smarter Ajman vision centers upon having a happy society that will help build a green and sustainable economy that is in line with the spirit of the union.
In line with the UAE government’s mandate to adopt state-of-the-art ICT infrastructures that improve levels of internal efficiency and develop services that comply with industry standards of excellence, Ajman Municipality realized it required a more flexible wireless infrastructure for its workforce.
“Developing an internal intelligent connected infrastructure, which offers its employees the latest in WiFi connectivity, is a powerful way for Ajman Municipality to start delivering against its 2021 vision. The municipality is now able to offer extended WiFi capabilities across its main office and six remote sites of the municipal buildings. Up to 700 users are able to be connected on a fast, flexible and secure wireless network at the same time,” said Sufian Dweik, Vice President of Huawei Enterprise in the UAE.
With a strong heritage of building and deploying wireless broadband networks in the region, Huawei has recently implemented a number of WiFi networking projects for enterprises in the UAE. This has included a recent partnership with ‘golf in DUBAi’, which brought seamless WiFi connectivity to the 2014 Omega Dubai Desert Classic Golf Tournament connecting up to 2000 guests at the same time; and also the roll out of the UAE’s fastest hotel WiFi for Jannah Hotels & Resorts. Huawei has also worked on deploying a transmission network on the Dubai Metro through du that is now providing access to mobile services in 18 metro stops.
