Oracle chooses Abu Dhabi to expand its operations

During GITEX conference held in the World Trade Centre in Dubai, an executive meeting was held between the top management of the Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), led by His Excellency Rashid Lahej Al Mansoori, the Director General of ADSIC, with Oracle management headed by Abdul Rahman Al-Thehaiban, Oracle Vice President for Middle East and Africa.

Oracle is one of the largest IT companies worldwide and is unique in being the first IT company to invest and partner with the government of the United Arab Emirates, and especially Abu Dhabi. ADSIC has been one of Oracle’s most important strategic partners in the region since its establishment, and Oracle is proud of its alliance with the Abu Dhabi government in executing many of the largest mission-critical IT projects over the past years.

Commenting on the occasion, HE Rashid Lahej Al Mansoori, DG at ADSIC said, “We are pleased to extend the partnership framework agreement with Oracle in light of the corporation’s notable investments in the field of ICT across Abu Dhabi and experience in various smart solutions, which supports ADSIC’s continual efforts to strengthen effective digital transformation and in turn, optimise government performance.”

During the meeting, Oracle and ADSIC discussed Oracle’s strategy for supporting ADSIC initiatives and the continuous strive to become the leading smart government, and adoption of the latest technologies and innovations.

Oracle expressed clearly that with the strong growth Oracle see in cloud computing business among Middle East customers , Oracle is very much considering expanding its cloud data centre investment to the region. In the assessment phase, it is becoming clear that UAE has a large variety of data centres providers, strong communication infrastructure and flexible laws and regulations and thus the Emirate of Abu Dhabi would be the most promising partner to capture that investment.
