Technology giant, Huawei, outlines how its converged FusionPower6000 3.0 one-stop solution is providing ultra-reliable power supply and distribution solution for large-scale data centres.
Huawei has released its next-generation power solution for data centres: FusionPower6000 3.0. Highly integrated, FusionPower6000 3.0 provides a one-stop, ultra-reliable power supply and distribution solution for large-scale data centres, helping power supply and distribution systems move towards fully digital operations and maintenance (O&M).
A secure, efficient and reliable power supply, alongside intelligent power distribution management, are both critical to data centre operations. Any interruption to, or fluctuation in power, might lead to serious consequences, including critical data loss. Huawei’s one-stop FusionPower6000 3.0 – also known as PowerPod – is fully converged and prefabricated in the factory, with Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based management guaranteeing stable operations. Compared with traditional, large-scale data centre power solutions, which require segment-based construction, distributed bidding and onsite installation and testing, a fully modular solution significantly shortens the construction time required as well as improving O&M efficiency.
Fast installation and deployment
Traditional construction methods involve multiple vendors and complicated engineering designs – which can take months to draw up — usually resulting in complex communications during construction and multiple interface standards once the job is done. This is far from conducive to efficient, convenient maintenance.
The advantage of Huawei’s FusionPower6000 3.0 is that the design and engineering process has been transformed, with factory prefabrication and standardised products and services. This reduces complexity and banishes delivery difficulties to things of the past. Adaptable to diverse scenarios, deployment is fast and flexible, with testing and installation completed within just two weeks. In total, time-to-market (TTM) falls by 75%, compared to traditional solutions.
Highly integrated and converged
Offering high density and efficiency – slashing 40% off the physical footprint of a traditional power supply solution — Huawei’s FusionPower6000 3.0 delivers link efficiency of up to 95.6%, a figure that climbs to 97.8% in intelligent online mode. Making significant innovations in integration, the solution integrates input and output power distribution cabinets into the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), saving six cabinets’ worth of space compared to previous product. The new solution also integrates full-power links between medium-voltage transformers and load feeders to provide a megawatt-level integrated power supply, distribution and backup solution, the preferred choice for large-scale data centres.
Intelligent predictive maintenance
Huawei’s iPower intelligent management system implements visualised management and predictive maintenance of the entire chain, supporting centralised monitoring and management of power systems in large data centres. With a modular design for all key components, modules can be hot swapped, simplifying maintenance, which becomes a five-minute job, effectively ensuring power system operations security.
Leading the power supply system into an era of high efficiency and high density, Huawei is committed to innovation in the quest to build ever more simple, green, smart and reliable data centre solutions.
