Huawei organised the Huawei Jordan Media Forum on December 5 in Amman, gathering senior leadership from Jordan’s key media organisations to address digital transformation challenges and opportunities in the media sector and their transformative roadmap to digital intelligence leveraging advanced technologies in networks, cloud, AI, cyber security, and ICT solutions.
During the forum’s opening keynote, Ammar Tobba, VP of Public Affairs and Communications at Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, emphasized the importance of open collaboration between public and private sectors in strengthening Jordan’s ICT ecosystem. He also highlighted the pressing need for media sector to catch up with the intelligent transformation.
During the forum, Huawei showcased advanced technologies and tools for media organisations, including smart campus solutions, Wi-Fi networks, cloud solutions, automation, cybersecurity solutions, and IdeaHub, all seamlessly integrated with AI capabilities. Huawei experts presented specific solutions such as Object Storage Service, OBS, Content Delivery Network, CDN, Cloud Search Service, CSS, Media Processing Centre, MPC, and Video on Demand, VOD services.
The forum’s programme featured a morning session of keynotes and presentations on the media industry’s digital journey, attended by government officials, key opinion leaders, and ICT experts. The afternoon session included three interactive workshops led by Huawei regional and local experts, addressing priority development areas identified through pre-event survey findings of media business pain points.
The workshops progressed from examining common challenges media organisations face to exploring development opportunities and concluded with creating a collaborative roadmap based on media organisations’ priorities.
Mohammed Sarrif, Regional Director of Digital Industries, Strategy & Marketing Department presented the digital strategy for media organisations, with an introduction to the technologies and solutions for intelligent office campus transformation. Along with Huawei Jordan, local experts detailed the implementation of simplified office networks with optical and wireless capabilities, building automation for facility management and energy efficiency, and smart office solutions for efficient collaboration.
Their presentation also covered intelligent security systems with AI-powered video management and integrated operations centre capabilities.
Huawei Jordan regularly hosts annual national, regional, and global competitions, where Jordanian students have consistently excelled. In the 2023-2024 Huawei ICT Competition, two teams from Jordan achieved second place worldwide, with six students out of hundreds earning this prestigious recognition. Additionally, five students reached the semi-finals of the Seeds for the Future 2024-2025 competition at the regional level.
