AI is an essential tool for modern enterprises and we explore the cutting-edge initiatives and AI-driven solutions that Recorded Future is introducing to the Middle East region. Mutaz Alshafeey, Senior Manager, Sales META, Recorded Future, discusses how AI is revolutionising threat intelligence, enabling organisations to adopt a more sophisticated approach to cybersecurity.
What was Recorded Future’s key focus at GITEX this year?
We have been a consistent participant at GITEX for the past five years. Our primary goal is to enhance our visibility and expand our operations within the region. GITEX provides an excellent platform for reaching out to potential partners across the region. While we have a strong presence in Dubai, with additional teams in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, we continue to attract significant interest from other regions, particularly Africa. Many businesses from these areas seek to connect with us, explore potential collaborations and expand their operations. GITEX has proven to be invaluable for both increasing our reach and identifying new opportunities.
Can you tell us about the initiatives and innovations Recorded Future is rolling out across the region?
In recent years, we have been at the forefront of AI technology, particularly in the realm of cyber threat intelligence. We were among the first to introduce AI-driven generative threat intelligence capabilities. One of our most recent innovations is our ransomware mitigation solution.
How does AI contribute to a more sophisticated approach to threat intelligence and how has it transformed cybersecurity capabilities?
Modern threat actors are increasingly leveraging AI tools to enhance their attacks. To maintain a proactive stance, we have introduced AI-generative capabilities into our platform. This feature allows users to ask questions and receive evidence-based answers from our AI. Recorded Future’s AI is fundamentally transforming the user experience. Additionally, we have recently launched a new AI-powered feature that enables users to create customised reports tailored to their specific needs.
What are some of the key trends you’re finding across the region and how should companies be broadening their understanding of the cyber threat landscape?
AI is undoubtedly the dominant trend in the industry, with everyone discussing the potential of AI language models. We are committed to staying at the forefront of this trend, particularly in the realm of security intelligence. While AI is not yet widely adopted in security intelligence, we are investing heavily in AI initiatives to maintain our leadership position.
What are the key pillars of an effective threat intelligence approach and how should this be incorporated into a business’ strategic planning?
Our mission is to secure the world through intelligence. To achieve this, we prioritise real-time intelligence delivery. We continually strive to enhance our ability to provide timely intelligence wherever our clients need it. Our solutions are designed to be accessible and actionable, allowing clients to use and implement our intelligence immediately.
In addition to real-time intelligence, key factors to consider in a security intelligence solution include the breadth of sources, the visibility of those sources, and language coverage. Given the diversity of nationalities and threat actors worldwide, language coverage is essential for understanding the global threat landscape.
