King Fahd Library utilises EAT

The landmark King Fahad National Library (KFNL) signed a deal this week with a specialist company to provide technology and maintenance services. Under the three-year contract, Etihad Atheeb Telecom (EAT) will provide hardware, software and high-speed Internet services to the library. A memorandum of understanding was signed by KFNL Secretary-General Mohammad Al-Rashed and Emad Maali, CEO of EAT.

“KFNL is using modern technology compatible with international standards in the field of information conservation and management,” Al-Rashed said after signing the MoU. He said this agreement will enhance the range and quality of services provided by the library through state-of-the-art technology to meet the needs of its expansion program. According to him, KFNL has the largest national archive of historical photographs of the Kingdom along with a comprehensive database that reflects its leading role in documenting national heritage and the local cultural production.

Elaborating on Al-Rashed’s statement, Maali said that under the agreement his company will provide services that meet the needs of the KFNL through the provision of high level O&M services. It will adhere to the time lines and also employ specialised personnel to ensure the continuity of the work, which opens wider avenues for sophisticated services. With this, the library will offer high-quality experience and reduce operational costs.

Atheeb Telecom intends to launch some products to both the retail and business, which is an important step for the company in the next phase. All services, including communications and audio enhanced phones, will be integrated for the benefit of users.

Updates with further details to follow.
