Mark Holtermann named CIO for Idaho National Laboratory

Mark Holtermann comes to Idaho National Laboratory (INL) as CIO with over 30 years of experience in Information Technology – including the past 17 years within the energy and utilities industry.

His role involves the provision of helps provide critical support to INL’s research mission.

INL relies on the Information Management directorate for the tools, systems and capabilities that enable the Lab’s daily tasks, as well as facilitating and protecting the vast amounts of data and information that flow daily across INL’s digital networks.

Recognized as a leader in executing transformational IT and organizational change initiatives, he has successfully led global teams coupled with budgets and portfolios summing over $100 million. He is a recognized leader in executing transformational IT and organizational change initiatives.

Holtermann was most recently Vice President for Information Technology and Digitization at NAES Corporation – the power generation industry’s largest independent services provider.

Prior to NAES, he led IT at American Water, the largest water utility in North America.

His CV also includes Vice President of Information Technology and CIO at Central Hudson and various IT leadership roles with NextEra Energy and Florida Power and Light.

Earlier in his career, Holtermann held technology leadership roles across multiple industries including transportation, consumer products and consulting.

As one of 17 national labs in the US Department of Energy complex, INL is home to more than 5,900 researchers and support staff focused on innovations in nuclear research, renewable energy systems and security solutions.
