HCA Healthcare names Chad Wasserman as CIO

HCA Healthcare has named near 30- year company veteran Chad Wasserman as Senior Vice President and CIO.

Wasserman succeeds P. Martin ‘Marty’ Paslick, who is retiring after 38 years with HCA Healthcare.

As CIO, Wasserman will lead more than 6,700 colleagues in HCA’s Information Technology Group (ITG), which provides the company’s global IT strategy, solutions and support.

He will oversee the group’s array of solutions including infrastructure, cloud, automation, data engineering, software development, enterprise systems and clinical technology initiatives.

“Throughout his career, Chad has demonstrated a strong ability to drive technology solutions across a wide range of business areas,” said Sam Hazen, CEO, HCA Healthcare. “I’m confident in his ability to lead our growing technology agenda to advance digital capabilities across the company.”

Wasserman has been with HCA Healthcare for 28 years serving in a variety of senior leadership positions.

Paslick is retiring as CIO after 11 years.

Under Paslick’s leadership, HCA Healthcare invested in the mobility of the company’s workforce through strategic partnerships to support clinical care and deployed one of the largest iOS platforms in the country – enabling mobile capability for HCA’s more than 93,000 nurses.

Paslick also led the development of new IT units and transformed HCA Healthcare’s field-based IT operations – playing a key role in transitioning HCA Healthcare to the Cloud.

“Marty’s service to HCA Healthcare has been revolutionary for the company and has set the course for our technology agenda,” said Hazen.
