Globant launches advanced video search tool powered by Google Cloud’s Gemini models

Aiming at video as the main means of information consumption, the solution helps find content such as clips, images and specific moments using Google’s AI models: Vertex AI + Gemini.

Globant has launched an AI-powered Advanced Video Search tool powered by Google Cloud’s Gemini models.

The innovation is an AI technology assistant solution designed to transform the way media companies, sports organizations and companies in general manage and search for video content. Through a semantic search interface, it automates content discovery and increases efficiency by reducing manual effort.

The demand for efficient video search solutions has grown as media organizations struggle to manage extensive content libraries. As a result, traditional solutions fall short of the needs of operations.

To bridge this gap, Globant’s AVS utilizes AI to allow users to instantly search for specific clips, images and moments within vast video libraries, whether in text-based queries or image searches.

The new tool offers a seamless experience to find the content you need accurately, ranging from identifying keyframes in live sports broadcasts to finding precise video moments for advertising and training, among others.

“Search capabilities are being redefined as generative AI advances, and Globant expects Advanced Video Search to play a key role in how companies leverage and manage video content,” said Diego Tártara, Chief Technology Officer, Globant.

“With video quickly overtaking text as the primary means of consuming information, tools like AVS are poised to redefine our interaction with video content – whether for entertainment, education or commerce.”

Albert Lai, Global Director for Media & Entertainment, Google Cloud, said: “Media and Entertainment companies face growing challenges – rising consumer expectations, rising costs of content creation and the need to adapt their business models to an ever-changing landscape. Globant’s AVS solution combines the power of Google Cloud’s enterprise AI platform and Gemini models with Globant’s deep digital implementation expertise. This isn’t just about technology – it’s a clear demonstration of how AI and innovation can be leveraged to address industry-specific challenges and deliver tangible results for customers around the world.

Diego Fernandez Brihuega, SVP & Technology Lead at Globant’s Google Cloud Studio, said: “Our Advanced Video Search solution is more than just a search engine; is an engine to unlock the value of video files, dramatically improving their value, increasing the efficiency of workflows, and enabling accurate and contextualized content delivery.”

Globant developed AVS to address the challenges media professionals face when creating highlight compilations, creating targeted ads or quickly finding specific frames within video footage.

In this context, the main use cases and benefits include:

  • Sports Highlights: Sports highlights packages traditionally require large teams to manually sift through footage and identify key moments. With this, AVS automates this process, searching for penalties in a football match, significant plays, or specific athletes, making it invaluable to sports media companies.
  • Advertising and product placement: AVS allows advertisers to find the most contextually relevant moments for ads within a video. For example, during a more emotional scene in a movie, advertisers can avoid placing an animated ad, ensuring that the announcement aligns with the tone of the content. Additionally, AVS can track when specific logos or brands appear on the screen, aiding in brand visibility and sponsorship analysis.
  • Training and education: Whether it’s corporate training videos or educational content, users only need to revisit specific segments multiple times. In this way, AVS allows them to instantly locate and access these moments, without having to scroll through long videos.

Unlike other solutions, Globant’s AVS stands out for its unique combination of a robust custom model and Gemini’s large-scale language model (LLM) capabilities. This combination offers extensive expertise while enabling custom content layering, ensuring that the solution meets the diverse needs of the video/catalog processing and monetization industry.

In this way, with Globant’s AVS, the organization can benefit from the flexibility and adaptability needed to meet specific requirements in the industry.
